OKNa – From Proto-Slavic *okъno (“window”) – art gallery/coffee/bar dedicated to Eastern Europe, researching and curating the New East

OKNA é um espaço cultural dedicado à programação artística, a projetos educativos e atividades de entretenimento. O espaço celebra a Europa de Leste como centro de expressão artística e cultural, inspirando e mergulhando a comunidade num novo ambiente.

Com um grupo de portugueses e de europeus de leste, OKNA - Espaço Cultural é uma iniciativa que responde à necessidade de aproximar pessoas, promover o trabalho artístico e encorajar a participação da comunidade neste processo.

O nosso objetivo é criar e apresentar trabalhos colaborativos entre Portugal e os países de Leste, ser uma plataforma e um espaço de trabalho para aqueles que, como nós, encontram a beleza na diversidade, nas diferenças e nas semelhanças, que focam no que é novo e contemporâneo.

OKNA – From Proto-Slavic *okъno (“window”) – is a cultural center dedicated to providing artistic programming and educational projects while establishing a close cooperation between Central/Eastern Europe and Portugal. Engaging with artists, researchers, and other cultural actors, the space celebrates CEE as an invaluable source of artistic and cultural expression, inspiring and immersing the community of Porto into a new creative environment.

Initated by a multicultural team, OKNA became a space addressing the need of bringing people closer, promoting artistic content and encouraging collaborative education while representing the New East.

Through its intercultural dialogue programs, OKNA sustains strategic partnerships that enable internationalisation of Portuguese culture in Central and Eastern Europe as well as identifying a stable pool of thinkers, cultural managers and institutions that can support international cooperations between the territories.
