That was the day that I started Baptist Humor.

What began as a way to vent my frustrations with college, church, and my seemingly own pathetic life (Long story) soon blew up into this magical place where people could laugh, cry, and send me hate mail.

It blew my mind when I hit 100 followers. I’m amazed today as I look at 160k followers. You all have been one of the most amazing fan bases on Facebook. Over the years I have changed a lot theologically, grew in sanctification, and hopefully have grown a little wiser, understanding, and mature (though I’m not so sure about that last one.) Through this page I have made friends, close friends, from all over the world (looking at you Memelords). God has blessed me with a beautiful family, a wonderful position in the local church, and a myriad of other things I do not deserve. For that I am extremely grateful.

Over the last few years I have received several stays in FB jail. My violations? Pro-life memes, “dangerous” memes (remember that rioter that looked like Chip Gaines?... well… I thought it was funny), and even crusaders in a coffee shop. I was even banned for memes that were taken down by FB, contested by me, reposted by FB, and then taken down by FB again.

A few months ago, I received a notification from FB (after a 90-day ban) that one more violation would get the Baptist Humor page unpublished. Along with this inevitable unpublishing hanging me over the fiery pit of Zucc’s furry by a spider’s thread, I was also informed that BH would no longer be shown to new followers, my reach would be throttled, and some of the functions of my page were taken away.

Memes that used to reach millions were reduced to reaching hundreds and in some cases dozens.

Despite reaching out to tech support several times I was never told how I might get the page back into the good graces of our supreme overlord Zucc. I seriously contemplated tapping out. The direction things are going I do believe all conservative voices will eventually be silenced from social media platforms, but today is not that day.

In the coming weeks I will be focusing all of my meme attention on that fresh start up, unshackled, and free like a memelord should be. I hope you will come with me. I hope you will tell your friends who also love BH about the new page. Most of all, I hope I never have to make Baptist Humor 3.0.
